Oil service warning light-learn to reset it on a BMW
It’s common for BMW’s to have a warning service installed that monitors the oil life and alerts when the oil needs to be changed. But it’s not enough to change the oil; you have to reset the oil service reminder to start monitoring again. You don’t need to worry about this when you change the oil with the BMW dealer, but if you change it yourself, you will have to reset it yourself.
Follow these steps:
-Switch off the ignition
– Hold down the odometer reset button in the instrumental panel
– Switch the ignition to “on”, but don’t start the car
– When the word “reset” appears on the instrument panel, release the odometer button
– Hold down the odometer button until the “reset” button lights on and off
– Press the odometer button once and it’s done
