What problems occur when bleeding the brake lines
Usually when you change something at the brakes, bleeding is required after. This means air gets trapped in the system and you need to remove it. For this job, there are required two people, or if you have a brake vacuum pump, one is enough.
– Bleeder brakes off
This happens when the bleeder valve hasn’t been operated for a long time so it’s very rusty and you try to open it, therefore, forcing it. This way the nipple on top of the valve may break. To avoid this problem, use some penetrating oil after starting to use the wrench. Tap it a little before to remove the rust and unblock the bolt. Avoid forcing it at any time; just keep applying oil and tapping it until it’s loosened.
– Destroying car paint
Paint is very sensible to brake fluid, so if you spill any on the body of the car, wipe it immediately.
– Ground clearance
The thing with bleeding is that you need to work underneath the car. So, you need to lift the car in the air. You do this using car ramps. You get the car on the ramps and then set the parking brake. Make sure the car is on flat ground, and is stable. Use wheel chocks for more stability.
