Where is your Cherokee brake switch located?

The brake switch controls the rear lights when braking. A malfunctioning brake switch means the safety of other drivers is in danger as well as yours. You will know you have problems with the switch when the gear won’t switch in automatic transmission.

Just locate it and replace it.

Follow these steps:

1. Get in the drivers cabin and move the driver’s seat so you can look under the dashboard.
2. Look and try to locate the shaft-bar attached to the rubber brake pedal pad.
3. Beneath the shaft-bar, about one inch is the brake light switch. Look for something like an ink pen with two wiring harnesses connected to its rear side.
